About us
After listening to my grandfather tell me what he could remember of his grandparents and the several marriages of his grandmother, I drew my first family tree in pencil on a scrap of paper. I must have been about 10 years old.
Since then, I have been fascinated in investigating and discovering more about my own family origins and now have been researching family history in depth for over 15 years.
I am a graduate of the University of Oxford, with an honours degree in Experimental Psychology, plus hold a Master’s degree from the University of Strathclyde in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies. Connections Genealogy allows me to combine my fascination in people and their lives with my passion for social history and genealogical research.
With a previous career in teaching, I've lived in six different countries. This has led to my particular research interest in migration and those who travelled abroad from the UK. As well as my considerable experience using British records, I have also completed in-depth research using online records from Jamaica, France and overseas French Territories, Finland, the USA and Canada. I'm always excited to work with new record sets and I keep my knowledge and skills up to date with regular continuous professional development.
I am a member of the Register of Genealogists, the Society of Genealogists and also the Guild of One-Name Studies as well as several family history societies.
Located in outer London, I have easy access to all London archives including the National Archives in Kew.
